Our Director, Poonam Tyagi, honoured with the Sabal Award

We are proud to share that Poonam Tyagi, Director of National Association for the Blind, Meerut, has been honoured with the prestigious Sabal Award by Tata Steel Foundation in the Sabal Sathi category.

The Sabal Awards recognise and celebrate the accomplishments and talents of people with disabilities (PwDs) across India, championing "dignity through ability" and promoting inclusivity. The Sabal Sathi category acknowledges the contributions of able-bodied individuals dedicated to this cause.

We are incredibly proud of her dedication and leadership in empowering the visually impaired and advocating for a more inclusive society. At National Association for the Blind, Meerut, we remain committed to creating opportunities and driving meaningful change.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who believes in our work and supports our mission!

Mobility training and smart cane distribution

At National Association for the Blind, Meerut, each mobility training session serves as a powerful reminder of the significance of our work. What may seem straightforward to many can represent a significant moment of joy and confidence for those who are visually impaired.

Our recent device distribution camp in Agra was particularly memorable! For the first time, our late-blind team members took charge of planning every detail, venue, travel, and schedule. Thanks to accessible technology, they were able to handle everything independently. Observing their genuine joy and newfound confidence motivates us to strive for even greater support.

This journey transcended mere mobility; it was about freedom, self-belief, and demonstrating what is achievable. We remain committed to supporting visually impaired individuals, empowering them to live with independence and dignity.

Our event featured in the Amar Ujala

We are excited to share that our recent event at the National Association for the Blind, Meerut has been featured in Amarujala.com ! The article highlights how smart canes are transforming the lives of visually impaired individuals, giving them the confidence to move independently.

Over the past year, we have seen a significant change—many people who started using smart canes can now travel alone, without relying on family members. Young girls are confidently taking buses, autos, and metro trains by themselves, experiencing a new sense of freedom.

This recognition in Amarujala.com is an important step in raising awareness about mobility solutions and the need for a more inclusive society. We hope this coverage encourages more people to support the cause and help spread the message further.

A big thank you to TorchIt and Hunny Bhagchandani for their invaluable support in making this possible!

Vision impairment affects millions in India, impacting not only physical health but also emotional well-being, education, and productivity.

By increasing awareness and improving access to eye care, we can reduce these effects and create a more inclusive society.
